The Fisher-Watkins Library book displays are a means of highlighting
special events and topics by focusing on the books and materials
available within the library’s collection.
Astronomy
As a follow-up to all the celestial activity of this past June,
the book display on the lower level in the library is dedicated
to books on planets and the solar system. New astral discoveries
and once-in-a-lifetime cosmic occurrences in our ever-expanding
universe are represented by sources selected from the library's
astronomy collection . Take some time this summer to check out
what’s new in the galaxy @ your library.
Independence Day
“Americans Celebrate Independence Day” is the theme
for the FWL entrance display for the 2004 Summer Session. Books
portraying the struggles of our founding fathers and mothers along
with those telling the story of the birth of our country political
system were selected to present the wide-range of interesting and
informative resources available @ your library.
A Century of Cushing Sports
1904-2004 is the subject of the archival
display in the newly-constructed display case located just outside
of the library entrance. Pictures, newspapers, literary journals
and artifacts were gathered from the archival collection for
the first display in the new cases skillfully crafted by Jon
Haley from the maintenance department. The oak-framed displays
were designed to replace the old painted cabinets and are a beautiful
accent to the main building. Look for future archival displays
for information and entertainment about the Academy’s history
and legacy.
