Offline Readers:
The Offline Readers Group has met each month throughout the year. It is a group of people who like reading books just for enjoyment. Everyone in the Cushing community is welcome to join. Each month we vote on what to read next and then get together to talk about the book. Meetings have always included snacks, great company and thoughtful conversations. This year we enjoyed the following books:
The Body by Stephen King, Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat, Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris, Four Perfect Pebbles by Lila Perl and Marion Blumenthal Lazan, In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer by Irene Gut Opdyke, Boy's Life by Robert McCammon, The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad.
Coffeehouse:
On Friday, April 13 a Coffeehouse/Poetry Reading/Open Mic night was held in the library. Students and faculty attended for a relaxing night of music and poetry.

Spring displays:
Service to Others was the theme of the display case at the entrance to the library for the month of April. The display contained many books from the library's collection on topics such as: Earth Day, Global Warming and Endangered Species. It also included photos and information about the annual Tony Fisher Day of Service to Others. This is an annual event when students and faculty dedicate one day of service each year to the local community and beyond.
The display case in the lower library was filled with books about the celebration of spring and flowers.

Frank Yang display:
In 2006, Frank Yang (Class of 2006) and his family donated money to the library to purchase Asian related books. In his email to the library he wrote, "I want to donate money to the library because I love Cushing. I want to give something to my school when I graduate. The library has been a great source when I needed any information." We have completed the project and now have over 75 new Asian related books in the collection.
